We offer today’s leading dentistry technologies in a relaxing spa-like environment.
Spa Dentistry is a spa service that can help with drug-sensitive or phobic patients by offering drug-free alternatives to patients at ease in the dentists chair. Aromatherapy is an effective way to calm nerves. We use scents such as orange and lavender to provide a calm and soothing environment. We offer complimentary 10-minute head and neck massage or hand massages before treatment to relax patients.
Anxiolysis is a minimal level of sedation whereby the patient has decreased anxiety to facilitate coping skills while retaining interaction ability. All things considered, the lower the sedation level, the less chance for a serious adverse event to occur. The adge, “go low and go slow” is an excellent philosophy for the practice of sedating dental patients.
A ‘light’ state of hypnosis is most commonly used in dentistry on a day-to-day basis to empower patients, eliminate anxiety, reduce gag reflex, control and reduce gingival bleeding during basic restorative procedures, and to reduce the isometric tensing of the muscles of the jaw and thereby to reduce tenderness of the jaw during and after appointments.
Invisalign® takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements your dentist or orthodontist plans out for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You just pop in a new set of aligners approximately every two weeks, until your treatment is complete. You’ll achieve a great smile with little interference in your daily life. The best part about the whole process is that most people won’t even know you’re straightening your teeth.
iTero for Invisalign & 6 month Smiles
The iTero Element is a sophisticated device that maps a patient’s mouth, thereby helping our dentists to recreate an accurate 3D digital layout of the oral cavity and all its structures. The procedure involved is quick, completely pain and discomfort-free for patients and is far more accurate than traditional dental cement molds and impressions.
6 Month Smiles
Our clear braces are safe, comfortable, and provide quick results. Using proven techniques and materials, the braces have been specifically designed for adults(16+) with crooked, spaced, or misaligned teeth. We use discreet clear braces and tooth-colored wires. Barely noticeable. 6 months is the average treatment time. Most patients finish around 6 months, but treatment times may range from 4-9 months. The cost is generally less expensive than traditional braces and aligners, the cost varies depending on your specific treatment goals.
Clear Brackets & Wires
The world doesn’t need to know you’re receiving treatment. Our brackets and wires are clear and tooth-colored, making it barely visible.
Smile in 6 Months
If you don’t want to deal with 2-3 years of metal braces, you’re in luck! Six Month Smiles has an average treatment time of…six months!
Depending on your case, Six Month Smiles is generally less expensive than clear aligners and traditional orthodontics.
Guided Implant Surgery
Making sure dental implants are safe, predictable and efficient
Guided surgery provides a solution where doctors can plan an implant virtually, and then accurately place an implant in the most safe, predictable, and efficient manner. With guided surgery, not only can we place the implant for the most esthetic result, but we can also superimpose abutments and predict how much room will be needed for the crown and for any veneered suprastructure that may go over the abutment.
Unlike other prosthetics, denture implants will integrate with your jaw bone to form a solid foundation that functions similar to your natural teeth. This means your dentures won’t slip out while you’re eating or become loose during conversations.
This procedure is sometimes called sinus augmentation or sinus graft, because it adds bone at the back of the upper jaw. Bone is needed between the jaw and maxillary sinuses (at the sides of the nose), for successful implant placement. The term “lift” comes from the fact that the sinus membrane is moved upward to make room for bone.
Bone Grafting for Dental Implants
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that resides in jawbone. Bone fuses with the implant to form a solid foundation for a crown, fixed dental bridge, or removable denture. However, there must be sufficient bone to ensure stable placement. The implant success rate at Lathem Dental Spa is very high due to expert treatment.
The initial perceived value of computer-assisted, 3-D analysis of dental patients was associated with treatment planning and the delivery of dental implants. As the technology became widely used by dentists, its application was dramatically enhanced. A clinician’s ability to view images in three dimensions, as well as share clinical findings digitally, enhances the scope of the patient exam. Using dental cone beam technology for the differential diagnosis of lesions, to determine the relative location of teeth or roots to critical anatomical features, and for assessments of endodontic pathology – all in 3-D are just a few examples of the numerous ways in which the technology has greatly enhanced patient care.
We provide standard teeth cleaning quarterly or biannually to keep your pearly whites clean and healthy. For those with clear braces or individuals who have accelerated tartar build up, we recommend coming to see us every 3 months.
In-office Teeth Whitening
Get a brighter and whiter smile in 1 hour with our in-office ZOOM teeth whitening. The ZOOM whitening procedure takes less than 60 minutes and reverses the effects of stains and discolouration of the teeth. The whitening gel and ZOOM light work together to leave you with a whiter and brighter smile in one visit. Sit back and relax while we transform your smile.
For small to medium cavities, we use directly placed bonded fillings, which can be completed in one visit, to seal off cavities, protect the nerves of your teeth and strengthen the remaining tooth structure.
We recommend bonding rather than unsightly metallic fillings, because it restores your teeth to their natural appearance, as well as strengthening the tooth instead of just filling a hole with metal.
Root Canal Therapy
In the roots of a tooth are small canals contain the dental pulp, which sometimes becomes infected and inflamed. This infection is usually due to tooth decay or tooth fractures that give bacteria and other microorganisms access to the pulp of the root canals. In these cases, the infected tissue must be removed by a procedure known as endodontic therapy, commonly called a root canal. A tooth that has had a root canal procedure is usually stabilized and can be crowned, saving the tooth.
Root canal is a term that produces fear in many people. With the sensitive administration of anesthetics and skill, our dentists are committed to making root canals completely painless during and after the procedure.
Inlays & Onlays
When a tooth is weakened by decay and fillings and the remaining tooth structure is prone to fracturing, we bond porcelain inlays/onlays into the tooth.
Our goal is to conserve as much of your natural tooth as possible, including any remaining walls of the tooth. Only the missing or decayed part of a tooth is restored. Large older and/or silver fillings are replaced with natural looking, much stronger bonded inlays/onlays to enhance the overall integrity of the tooth.
These inlays/onlays are custom made pieces created by a dental lab using a mold of the tooth — much as a crown is made. The perfectly fitted porcelain piece is bonded to the tooth, strengthening the remaining structure and restoring the tooth to a natural appearance.
Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. While an excellent solution for some patients who have lost teeth, ill-fitting dentures can result in sore spots in the mouth, dietary problems caused by the inability to chew food properly, a loss of enjoyment in eating and even changes in facial features
Our doctors have the skill, aesthetic expertise, and technological know-how to ensure that your dentures are fitted for optimum functionality and appearance.
Crown and Bridge
When a tooth is cracked, no longer structurally sound or contains a large filling with decay underneath, the tooth can be repaired and strengthened using a porcelain crown. Crowns cover the tooth completely and, with modern materials and techniques, have a very realistic appearance. Crowns can whiten, reshape and realign existing teeth, adding to a bright, healthy smile.
Missing teeth can be replaced with good results using fixed bridges that are cemented on supporting teeth for a natural feel and appearance. Not only will the bridge complete your smile but it will also stabilize the jaw so remaining teeth don’t shift position. (Also see Implants)
Our doctors provide a wide range of services because they seek to give their clients optimal, comprehensive care. They realize the results of one procedure can affect the success of subsequent procedures. As an example, unlike many dentists, our dentists offer extractions and other oral surgery procedures to their patients rather than referring them to specialists because they can better control the subsequent results.
This also enables clients to have oral surgery in the same relaxed, supportive environment that they enjoy on a regular basis. The doctors know each of their patients well and can help them as necessary with their fears and concerns, which an outside specialist may not be able to do.
BOTOX® Cosmetic and Xeomin®
BOTOX® Cosmetic and Xeomin® offer an advanced solution that has proven effective for many patients time and time again. These treatments are some of the most popular here at Lathem Dental Spa, and they can be excellent options for both women and men who want to quickly improve mild to moderate signs of age with results that look natural. Dr.Claire Park designs each treatment with the goal of providing the best possible results while avoiding a “frozen” look. For more information on our BOTOX® Cosmetic and Xeomin® treatments, or to schedule a complimentary consultation, please Contact Lathem Dental Spa. Although Botox is most commonly used to smooth wrinkles around the eyes, the forehead and around the lips, it is also used as an adjunctive treatment in patients with TMD (jaw joint disorders). It can greatly reduce the intensity of the muscle contractions that contribute to teeth grinding, TMD and facial pain. Grinding your teeth can make your jawline wider over time, Botox injection into the area shrinks the muscle and narrow jawline. Botox can be used to diminish the look of a gummy smile, a much less invasive option than oral surgery. It can also be useful in helping patients adjust to their new dentures.
Botox is a natural purified protein that when injected, blocks the communication between a motor nerve and the muscle it stimulates, thus causing the muscle to relax. It does not cause loss of sensation in the muscle. Botox relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkles and creates a smoother and improved appearance.
Dentists with their proficient knowledge of facial anatomy and their experience with injections are an ideal choice to provide these services to their patients.
Most Commonly Treated Areas
Injectable neuromodulator can also serve as effective treatments to enhance areas under the eyes, above the lips, around the corners of the mouth, and even in the jawline regions of the face. Dr. Claire Park will discuss all of the potential benefits these injectable solutions can provide during consultation.
